Fibrecomm is a joint venture company comprising of Tenaga (Malaysia's Power Company), MRCB (Independent Power Provider) and Celcom of TRI Group.
The contract was for the supply of optical fiber cables to be used in aerial, duct and in-building applications, as well as the provision of engineering services, training and maintenance services based on a full turn key basis for the Peninsula of Malaysia.
The scope of work included the design, manufacture, supply, storage, delivery to sites, site preparation, complete installation and maintenance of single-mode optical fiber cables in aerial, overhead and underground applications, within buildings and along power transmission lines:
The objective was the implementation of trunk and metro fiber optic backbones based on SDH architecture. This was to cater for Malaysia's present demand and in the future for telecommunications, multimedia and telecontrol requirements.
The total value of the project awarded was about 64 million RM.
